Internet pioneer Ray Tomlinson, regarded as the inventor of email in 1971, has died. He was 74.
The use of the iconic “@” sign in email addresses is credited to him.
BBC News: “BBC News: “Ray Tomlinson’s email is flawed, but never bettered“
Dear DMC:
Sad to see that Mr Tomlinson is “in the Outbox” but this is a good dull article.
We probably need to dull down our emails. Perhaps a system that doesn’t deliver them for at least 24 hours – and then somewhat haphazardly.
And perhaps we would value them more if there was a nominal charge for each one, say 50p. We could make this happen.
Best wishes
Steve
