The race is on now that Richard III was found in a Leicester car park — to find out where King Alfred is around Winchester (as suggested on Radio 4 Today).
Early speculation is that he may be under
1. Poundland
2. Bar End Recycling Centre
3. Light of Bengal
4. Andrew Smith & Son’s office loo.
5. Still propped up in a corner at the Wykeham Arms
What do you reckon?

As I live in Hyde I wish to claim his “grave” outside the ruins of Hyde Abbey is really him. I want a full state funeral in the Abbey, attended by the royal family and Hyde renamed a City.
PS Should dull men be involved in a “race”? Sounds far too exciting
Michael . . . you’re right about racing being exciting . . . too exciting for us at times . . . on our Races page, however, you’ll find races suitable for us . . . snail races for example . . . as for a race to find King Alfred’s remains, we might merely sit back and watch others do this.
