Yorkshire’s Rhubarb Triangle
Wakefield is part of the Rhubarb Triangle:
First Rhubarb of the Year
The first rhubarb of the year is harvested by candlelight in dark sheds dotted around the Rhubarb Triangle. This produces a sweeter, more tender stalk.
Secrets of the Rhubarb Triangle
Click here to get to a BBC article “The Secrets of the Rhubarb Triangle.” The article talks about stepping into the secret sheds of the Rhubarb Triangle. “You enter a quieter, more relaxing world.”
Listening to Rhubarb Growing
In the sheds, you can actually hear the rhubarb growing. We like to do this, just like we do in Iowa on summer nights — listen to corn growing.
