October 21 — 22st Annual Apple Day
Apple Day began on October 21, 1990. The first Apple Day celebrations were held in the old Apple Market in Covent Garden (London). Forty stalls were loaded with a wide variety of apples.
Apple Day has spread through England. There are now many events celebrating Apple Day throughout the country.
A leading event is the Longest Peel Competition. The Apple Day record is held by Kathy Walfer — a peel of 172 feet 4 inches. It took her 11 hours 30 minutes to do this. Click here for more about this big event.
