October 31, 1941 — Mount Rushmore National Memorial Completed
It took 14 years to build.
It was first suggested in 1927 by Jonah Robinson of the South Dakota State Historical Society.
The memorial consists of 60-feet tall sculptures of four U.S. presidents: George Washington Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt.
