World Water Day, sponsored by the United Nations, is held annually on 22 March to focus everyone’s attention on the importance of freshwater and to promote good management of freshwater resources. It’s an opportunity for each of us to learn more about water related issues, to spread the word, and to take action to make a difference.
World Water Day began at the 1992 UN Conference on Environment and Development where an international observance for water was recommended. The UN General Assembly designated March 22 as World Water Day.
