World Egg Day is celebrated every year on the second Friday in October. Events for celebrating eggs are held all around the world.
World Egg Day is sponsored by the International Egg Commission. To feed the hungry and underprivileged over the past year, they have donated over $7 million and 22,340,000 eggs to schools, food banks, and charities around the world. Celebrations around the world:
France: Euro-Toques, the chefs association, will be emphasizing the use of eggs in restaurants
Spain: awards will be presented for the best egg research, best recipe, and best audio visual work about eggs.
Hong Kong: competition to see who can come up with an inventive new way to use eggs in a recipe.
Canada: Egg Farmers of Canada partnering with the Breakfast Club of Canada to prove 130,000 children with nutritious egg breakfasts.
